Why do people listen to rap music?

i don't know why. i have heard a few rap songs that were pretty good with meaningful lyrics, but a lot of rap is just terrible, not creative at all and very degrading to women. Now i'm not a feminist but I don't stand for it if someone were to degrade or disrespect me. Whenever I get into conversations with other people on this subject I try to keep an open mind and respect the fact that other people have different opinions than me. But honestly, how is a music video with Lil' Wayne laying in a bed full of girls and a few of them in the kitchen cooking for him NOT DEGRADING TO WOMEN? If you don't know which one i'm talking about, watch the music video for bedrock. My sister played it the other day and I couldn't believe what i saw. Oh and I don't listen to country or Christian music or any of that. I mainly listen to rock, hard rock, metal, metal core, heavy metal and punk rock.
