Why 2 hours for Windows updates?

4 days ago I bought new p/c, next day I had updates downloaded 96 of them at once-but this happens after I turn my p/c off, so it doesn`t bother me-but yesterday I had notification that there were new updates to download, 2 updates for 'Windows Security', so I thought 'o.k. it will be but few minutes, and started download,..but alas! st. of 2 downloads was taking for ever & a day,..after 40 minutes, I checked the process, the green bar was still at the same spot as 40 minutes ago, so I canceled the download.So my question is what the heck of 'update' is Windows downloading that should take 2 hours for one update???..My goodness, you can create a whole new p/c in 2 hours, and they need 3 hours for 2 updates to download?..is this 2011 or Bedrock of Fred Flintstone`s age?..
