Will a brand new portable DVD player (manufacture sealed) be a problem thru security? It's a gift.?

I am flying with only carry-on luggage and would like to bring my nephew's grad gift which is a portable DVD player. I am worried security will need/want to open it. I know it can't be wrapped like a gift, but I'd rather not have the packaging opened. Anyone know how TSA will handle this? I just don't know if it's treated like a laptop and needs to be opened.
